HOTTAVYBZ SOUND is a music production team, label and dancehall soundsystem based in Tokyo, Japan. The main members are Robbie Heat (producer, selector and DJ from Birmingham, UK) and Dremazin (artiste, MC and entertainer from Kingston, Jamaica).
ABOUT ROBBIE HEAT:
Robbie “DJ” Heat is a UK-born DJ / selector and music producer, with over 20 years of DJ experience. Mixing in a variety of musical influences from his multicultural home city of Birmingham, he plays a diverse range of music, with a primary focus on Caribbean and African genres such as dancehall, reggae, soca, and afrobeats, along with other mainstream genres.
Heat began DJing at the young age of 16, working his way up to play at major venues in his home city. After moving to Japan in 2009 and studying the language, he founded the soundsystem and record label Hottavybz Sound in 2015. Since then, he has built his brand and made a name for himself in the Caribbean music scene and wider club scene in the Tokyo area, performing at major venues such as R3, Harlem, Club Asia, Vuenos, AgeHa, 1Oak, and Yokohama Bay Hall to name a few. Heat frequently performs alongside Jamaican MC / artist Dremazin, the other half of the dynamic dancehall duo.
As a producer, aside from numerous songs with Dremazin, Heat has produced a wide range of material in genres such as dancehall, soca, and afrobeats, and worked with Japanese artists such as Ayakohimé, Aby, Ann G, El Busta, and Moya-C, and afrobeats artists such as JB Wonderful and Frank Guy, who are also currently based in Japan. He is also a proficient recording, mixing, and mastering engineer.
ABOUT DREMAZIN:
Dremazin (pronounced “dray-maze-in”) is a creative. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, he lived in Balaclava for four years before moving to Vineyard Town in Kingston. He was exposed to music at a very young age and was a part of musicals, choirs and chorales throughout his teens into adulthood. He would always be able to spontaneously produce lyrics to popular songs and remix them for use in his church youth retreats. Growing up in the church kept him grounded whilst honing his tenor voice. His affinity for music continued to grow and he did his first mixtape, entitled Songbook, with his friend JStarr in 2011. He currently lives and works in Japan, where he has teamed up with Hottavybz.
